Story
In this surreal and disturbing short film directed by Bertrand Mandico, we find Joan of Arc after her eyes have been burned out and she has been deflowered by an English stallion. Condemned to wander the battlefield like a scavenger, Joan's sole purpose is now to search for virgins among the fallen soldiers.
Summary
The short film 'Y a-t-il une vierge encore vivante' (2015), translated as 'Is There Still a Virgin Alive', offers a grotesque and provocative reimagining of Joan of Arc's fate post-martyrdom. The film is notable for its surrealistic imagery and disturbing content, which serve to question and subvert traditional historical narratives.
