Histoire
In 1898, Spain sends a military squad led by Captain Enrique de las Morenas and Lieutenant Cerezo to protect their outpost in Baler, Philippines. The soldiers face constant attacks from Filipino rebels and are eventually forced to take refuge in the local church due to the relentless siege. The heat and malaria start taking a toll on them, leading to the death of the captain from beriberi. Cerezo takes over leadership but faces resistance from Jimeno, a survivor of a previous squad annihilated by rebels. As months pass, the soldiers become more desperate and paranoid, especially after learning that Spain has sold its colonies to the USA without informing them. Despite this news, Cerezo remains determined to fight on until Carlos, one of his men struggling with opium addiction, tries to find a way to end the conflict.
