Synopsis
A building speculator from Lombardy, Commendatore Gag, attempts to acquire the land of a humble Lazio shepherd named Baldo. Despite his initial resistance, Baldo is gradually drawn into the allure of the city life and wealth that Gag represents. Baldo's fortunes change dramatically when he plays a game of broom with Gag, winning an immense amount of money and becoming his equal partner. However, the story also involves Baldo's interactions with Greta, the wife of Commendatore Gag, and her daughter Paola, who becomes involved in a romantic relationship with Baldo.
