Synopsis
The movie 'Backbeat' focuses on the early days of The Beatles in Hamburg, Germany, with a primary focus on the relationship between Stuart Sutcliffe, one of the original band members and John Lennon's best friend. While The Beatles are playing in seedy clubs along the Reeperbahn in search of success, Sutcliffe meets Astrid Kirchherr, a trendy German beatnik, and falls deeply in love with her. Throughout their time in Hamburg, Sutcliffe struggles to balance his dedication to his girlfriend and his commitment to the band. His relationship with Astrid causes friction between him and Lennon, who is Sutcliffe's best friend but also jealous of Astrid's influence on him.
