Synopsis
In Geneva during the 1930s, Solal, a high-ranking Jewish official at the League of Nations, and Ariane, a young married aristocrat from a Protestant family, meet at a party. Despite their different worlds, they are drawn to each other and engage in a passionate love affair. However, their relationship is complicated by the fact that Ariane is married to Adrien, who works under Solal. Their love faces hostility from society, and they must also deal with their own personal struggles - Solal's obsessive love and Ariane's physical passion. Meanwhile, Solal hides a dark side of his personality.

Résumé
Belle du Seigneur is a French-language film directed by Glenio Bonder in 2012, adapted from Albert Cohen's epic Swiss novel of the same name. Set against the backdrop of Geneva during the 1930s on the eve of World War II, it tells the tale of an illicit love affair between Solal, a Jewish diplomat rising through the ranks of the League of Nations, and Ariane, the Protestant wife of one of his employees.
