Histoire
In 'Café de Flore', two interconnected stories of love and sacrifice unfold across different eras. In 1960s Paris, Jacqueline raises her disabled son Laurent alone after her husband abandons them. As Laurent grows older, he develops a crush on another Down Syndrome girl, Véronique, much to Jacqueline's dismay who becomes possessive of him. Her obsessive behavior towards Laurent escalates when he expresses his desire for independence. In present-day Montreal, Antoine, a successful DJ, recently divorces from Carole after a long relationship since their teenage years. Their separation is traumatic for both, especially Carole who struggles with depression and sleepwalking. Antoine's new partner, Rose, and Carole's two daughters add further tension to the situation. The stories of Jacqueline and Antoine interweave through themes of love, sacrifice, and loss, ultimately converging in a café called 'Café de Flore'.
