Synopsis
Das Vaterspiel explores the fates of three families across different time periods and locations. The first family is a Jewish one from Lithuania who are destroyed by Nazi massacres during World War II. The second family is that of the perpetrator, who fled to America after the war. Despite their diaspora, they maintain grotesque familial cohesion. The third family is the Ratz clan, a social democratic household in present-day Vienna that is gradually dissolving due to internal conflicts and societal pressures.

Das Vaterspiel is a drama film directed by Michael Glawogger in 2009, based on the novel of the same name by Robert Menasse.
