Histoire
An Australian couple, John and Rae Inman, embark on a sailing trip in the Pacific to cope with the recent loss of their son. While adrift in dead calm waters, they come across another ship that appears to be sinking. They rescue the only survivor, Hughie Warrilow, who initially seems grateful but soon reveals his sinister intentions. As days pass, Hughie's true nature is uncovered, leading to a game of cat and mouse between him and the couple on their yacht.
Résumé
Based on the novel 'Dead Calm' by Charles Williams, this 1989 Australian thriller film directed by Phillip Noyce follows John (Sam Neill) and Rae (Nicole Kidman) Inman as they attempt to heal from a car crash that claimed their son's life. While sailing in the Pacific, they encounter Hughie Warrilow (Billy Zane), who manipulates them into believing he needs rescue. However, Hughie has no intention of leaving the yacht alive and instead seeks revenge for his past misfortunes.
