Synopsis
Down to the Bone follows Irene, a working-class woman in upstate New York struggling with cocaine addiction while raising her two sons and living in an unhappy marriage. Winter intensifies Irene's predicament as she tries to maintain her secret drug habit alongside her responsibilities. After getting into trouble, Irene checks herself into a rehab program where she meets Bob, a nurse. Post-rehab, Irene returns home but continues to communicate with Bob, sparking hints of an affair. She switches jobs from grocery checking to house cleaning with her friend Lucy, facing renewed temptations of drugs. Irene must navigate sobriety and marital instability while grappling with her attraction to Bob.
