In Lille, France, Claire Gauthier, a married woman with a young daughter and working at an insurance company, meets Laurent Kessler when he claims damage due to flooding in his basement. Despite his odd behavior, Claire feels attracted to him as they grow close over several encounters. Meanwhile, a serial killer is targeting women in Lille using a scalpel. When Claire discovers such an instrument in Laurent's jacket pocket, she becomes fearful yet still drawn to him.

'Entre Ses Mains' (2005) is a French drama-thriller directed by Anne Fontaine, one of the few woman directors working in the genre at the time. The film explores themes of attraction, obsession, and fear through the relationship between Claire Gauthier, an ordinary married woman with a young daughter, and Laurent Kessler, an enigmatic veterinarian she meets while processing his insurance claim. As they grow closer amidst a backdrop of serial killings in Lille, Claire becomes torn between her desire for Laurent and her growing suspicions about him.
