Hugo Weaving stars as Daniel Fisher, a renowned photojournalist who returns home to Australia after an assignment in Africa, struggling with shell shock on the eve of becoming a father. Meanwhile, South Sudanese refugee Sebastian Aman (Andrew Luri), now living happily in Australia with his family, learns that Daniel's upcoming retrospective exhibition might display photographs of a massacre from his village 15 years ago. Sebastian tracks down Daniel and appeals to him not to include those photos. An unlikely friendship develops between the two men as they bond over their shared trauma. However, their relationship is tested when Daniel makes a shocking discovery related to the photographs.
