Synopsis
Hotel Chevalier opens with Jack Whitman alone in a Paris hotel room, awaiting an unexpected visitor who calls to announce her arrival. He prepares the room and himself, moving mechanically, as if he's been expecting this moment but doesn't know what it means. When she arrives, the two former lovers engage in a tense, indirect conversation filled with unspoken truths about their past relationship and its current state. They discuss art, their respective lives since they last saw each other, and even step out onto the balcony to appreciate Jack's view of Paris. Throughout their time together, tension builds as they both seem to be trying to figure out whether there's still something between them or if it's truly over.
