Set in Venice during 1764, 'Il Boemo' follows Josef, a young man aspiring to become an opera composer but struggling to make his mark in a city filled with established talent. Initially living a precarious life, Josef finds work as a violinist and eventually catches the attention of a rich young woman who introduces him to a hedonistic lifestyle free from religious intolerance. Under her influence, Josef transforms himself, shedding signs of his provincial upbringing. This metamorphosis opens doors for him, including an affair with a libertine marquise who further refines his worldly manners. Ultimately, these connections lead Josef to an incredible commission: writing an opera for the prestigious San Carlo theatre.
