Synopsis
The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus follows an ancient travelling theatre company led by its enigmatic namesake, Doctor Parnassus. The show promises audiences a journey into the 'Imaginarium', an imaginary world where dreams come true. Doctor Parnassus claims to have lived for over a thousand years, having made a pact with the devil, Mr. Nick, trading his immortality for youth. As part of this bargain, he promised his firstborn child to Mr. Nick upon their sixteenth birthday. Valentina, Parnassus' daughter, is nearing her doomed age, prompting him to make another wager with Mr. Nick: whoever seduces five souls in the Imaginarium will win Valentina's life. Meanwhile, the troupe rescues Tony, a young man who had been hanged but survived, and he joins them. Tony and Valentina fall in love, causing jealousy among Parnassus' assistant Anton.
