Synopsis
In Los Angeles at the turn of the 1970s, drug-fueled private detective Larry 'Doc' Sportello investigates the disappearance of his ex-girlfriend, Shasta Fay Hepworth. Doc becomes embroiled in a complex web of criminal activity involving a heroin cartel, loan sharks, and corrupt law enforcement officials. Alongside his surreal journey, Doc also deals with romantic entanglements and his hippie lifestyle.

Résumé
Inherent Vice is a neo-noir comedy-drama directed by Paul Thomas Anderson, released in 2014. Based on the novel of the same name by Thomas Pynchon, the film is set in the drug-fueled underworld of late 1960s and early 1970s Los Angeles. The story follows Doc Sportello, a perpetually high private investigator who navigates the city's criminal landscape with a blend of humor and noirish detective tropes.
