Synopsis
Joy is an eighteen-year-old woman who grew up in foster homes and now lives on the fringes of society. She makes a living by playing the accordion in the subway and shoplifting without getting caught. The film follows Joy as she doggedly searches for her unknown biological mother, believing she was born out of a loving relationship due to her name 'Joy'. Throughout her search, Joy becomes animated only when pursuing this conviction. She's expelled from her current foster home due to bad behavior and starts living with Denise, a sixteen-year-old girl who got pregnant on purpose. Joy also has a boyfriend named Momo, a second-generation immigrant. During her search, Joy finds an old address that might lead to her biological mother.
