Synopsis
In Anarene, Texas, high school seniors Sonny and Duane are best friends struggling with their impending graduation and adulthood. Sonny is having an affair with Coach's wife, while Duane dates local beauty Jacy. As graduation nears, they contemplate their futures. Duane considers joining the army, and Sonny takes over a run-down pool hall and movie house from their mentor Sam the Lion. The boys face lessons about love, loneliness, and jealousy as their town's population dwindles. Eventually, the second-run features at the movie house stop attracting customers, signaling the end of an era for the boys. This marks the last picture show and the closure of one stage of their lives.

Résumé
'The Last Picture Show' is a 1971 coming-of-age drama directed by Peter Bogdanovich, adapted from Larry McMurtry's novel.
