Histoire
Marie, a successful door-to-door encyclopedia salesperson married to Francois for twelve years with a two-year-old son Paul, feels an emptiness in her life. While at work, she meets Bill/Tony, a 50-year old African-American man staying at a friend's villa in Paris. Despite initially finding him annoying, Marie becomes irresistibly attracted to Bill and they begin a passionate affair. Their relationship is purely physical; Bill shows little interest in Marie's personal life, and vice versa. However, Marie struggles psychologically with reconciling her illicit encounters with her mundane domestic responsibilities. She returns home with visible signs of her affair, such as scratches and hickeys, causing Francois distress. Meanwhile, Francois wishes to have another child but Marie is hesitant, adding tension to their marriage.
