Histoire
Let Her Out follows Helen, a bike courier who suffers a traumatic accident. Upon waking up in the hospital, she discovers that she has a benign tumor in her brain, remnants of a 'vanishing twin' absorbed in utero. As the tumor grows, Helen begins to experience strange blackouts, hallucinations, and night terrors. The visions manifest as a dark, demented version of a stranger, which Helen comes to understand is her evil doppelgänger. As Helen's mental state deteriorates, she acts out in psychotic episodes influenced by her evil twin, posing a danger to herself and her best friend, Molly.
Résumé
Let Her Out is a Canadian horror film directed by Cody Calahan. The story revolves around the psychological unraveling of its protagonist, Helen, following a traumatic brain injury. With a premise rooted in psychology, the film explores themes of identity, mental health, and the struggle between self and other. Central to the narrative is Helen's discovery of her 'vanishing twin,' a phenomenon where one of two identical twins absorbs the other during fetal development. This scientific basis lends an element of plausibility to the supernatural occurrences in the film.
