Synopsis
In the late 1940s, a murderous couple known as 'The Lonely Hearts Killers' preyed upon vulnerable individuals. They targeted their victims through personal advertisements in newspapers. The duo consisted of Martha Beck (Juno Temple), a seductive and manipulative woman, and Raymond Martinez Fernandez (Casey Affleck), her husband and accomplice who posed as an undercover agent to lure targets with fake stories of loneliness and desire for companionship.
Detectives Robert Persling (John Travolta) and Jimmy Calise (James Gandolfini) were tasked with apprehending the pair. They infiltrated their circle, with Persling posing as a lonely widower and Calise acting as an observer. The detectives grew closer to Martha and Raymond, leading them deeper into the investigation while also putting themselves at risk.
