Histoire
Johannes, a man with the mental capacity of a child, lives a secluded life high up in the Austrian Alps with his devout mother and his pet eagle. Their daily existence is filled with prayer and ritual, unspoiled by the modern world. However, their peaceful life is disrupted when tourism development begins to encroach upon their paradise. This intrusion threatens not only their way of life but also awakens something sinister within Johannes. As he struggles to protect his mother and preserve their innocent existence, Johannes finds himself embodying both god-like protective instincts and devilish wrath.
Résumé
Luzifer is a haunting drama directed by Peter Brunner that explores themes of innocence lost, fanaticism, and the dark side of human nature. Set in the stark beauty of the Austrian Alps, the film tells the story of Johannes, a man-child who lives an isolated life with his mother. The arrival of tourism development in their once peaceful paradise sparks a crisis for Johannes, who struggles to reconcile his childlike wonder with the rage that threatens to consume him. With Franz Rogowski delivering a transfixing performance as Johannes, Luzifer offers a chilling exploration of how the loss of innocence can lead to darkness and despair.
