Synopsis
Set during the reign of Louis XIV, 'Mademoiselle de la Charce' begins when the Marquisate of La Charce faces threats from Duke Savoie's invasions. The authoritarian Marchioness de la Charce (Marie-Christine Barrault) dominates her daughter, Mademoiselle de la Charce. An injured young man seeking refuge in their castle becomes close to the daughter, while a Catholic priest warns against 'little prophets' predicting doom for France and aristocracy. When Italian musicians arrive, including a woman disguised as a man, Mademoiselle de la Charce is inspired to dress like one herself to defend her lands.
