In New York City, Sophie, a middle-aged woman married to businessman Andrew, struggles to conceive. After Andrew's attempted suicide due to his family's disapproval of their childlessness, Sophie becomes desperate and devises an unconventional solution. She follows Jihah, a Korean immigrant who resembles her husband, from a fertility clinic to his apartment and propositions him: she offers $300 per session and $30,000 if she gets pregnant in exchange for impregnating her. Despite their initial practical arrangement, Sophie and Jihah find themselves developing emotional attachments as they continue their sessions. As their relationship grows more complex, Sophie must grapple with the potential consequences of her actions on both her marriage and her growing feelings for Jihah.
