Synopsis
Inspector Staniland investigates the murder of an unsuccessful pianist. When the victim's mistress, Barbara, confesses to the crime upon finding Staniland in the apartment, he becomes suspicious due to inconsistencies in her confession and her confident demeanor. As Staniland digs deeper into the case, he faces obstacles from a man seemingly protecting Barbara, who is supposedly her brother. Throughout his investigation, Staniland remains unconvinced by Barbara's guilt despite her repeated confessions.
