Synopsis
Puppenspieler follows Richard, a young boy who witnesses his mother's execution as a witch by Heinrich Institoris, an inquisitor. Driven by revenge, Richard escapes and falls under the tutelage of merchant Jakob Fugger. Fugger teaches Richard to manipulate people like puppets to achieve his goals. Together, they travel from Florence to Rome to influence the election of the next pope amidst the power struggle between the Medici and Borgia families.
