Synopsis
Same Same But Different follows Benjamin Prufer, a young German student who travels to Cambodia for his post-graduation summer trip. While there, he meets and falls in love with Sreykeo Solvan, a 21-year-old bar girl from Phnom Penh. After returning home to Germany, Ben learns that Sreykeo is ill and decides to take responsibility for her well-being. Throughout his journey, he uncovers the stark realities of inequality and the complexities of human motivations.

Résumé
'Same Same But Different' (2009) is a drama-romance film co-directed by Detlev Buck, set in Cambodia, Germany, and Thailand. The movie is based on a true story and explores themes of love, responsibility, and social inequality. It tells the tale of Benjamin Prufer's unexpected relationship with Sreykeo Solvan while traveling in Cambodia, and his subsequent journey to save her from illness despite the challenges posed by their differing circumstances.
