Synopsis
Based on Leonie Frieda's book 'Catherine de Medici: Renaissance Queen of France,' the series follows Catherine de Medici's life as she enters the French court at a young age. Initially viewed as an immigrant, common, and plain, Catherine marries King Henry II expecting to bring a fortune in dowry and produce many heirs. However, she discovers her husband is in love with an older woman, her dowry is unpaid, and she struggles with infertility. Despite these challenges, Catherine uses her intelligence and determination to maintain her marriage and navigate the treacherous politics of the monarchy, ultimately ruling France for over five decades.
