Synopsis
Reporter Camille Preaker returns to her rural hometown in Missouri after a brief stay at a psychiatric hospital to investigate the murders of two young girls. Struggling with her own demons and haunted by her past, she finds herself identifying too closely with the victims. As she digs deeper into the case, she must confront her troubled family history, including her neurotic hypochondriac mother and half-sister who has an eerie grip on the town. Camille's investigation leads her to unravel not just the murders but also the psychological puzzle of her own past.
