The film 'Slugi Boze' (God's Slaves) begins with the suicide of a young German girl from a Women's Gregorian Choir led by Cantor Jan in Wroclaw, Poland. The choir is controversial due to its all-female composition, causing disapproval within the church community, even from Cantor Jan himself. Superintendent Warski, an experienced but unconventional investigator, is assigned to the case. Meanwhile, Ana Wittesch, a German police officer of Polish origin, arrives in Wroclaw for her own secret investigation. As Warski and Ana cross paths, they begin to uncover connections between the suicide, Ana's investigation, and the arrival of a Vatican envoy, Dr. Kunz, concerned about the atmosphere within the Polish church. While the church attempts to halt investigations, Warski and Ana continue to collaborate, leading them to discover that another girl has jumped off the church tower.
