Synopsis
The seemingly ordinary life of Charles Driggs (Christopher Walken), a buttoned-down businessman, takes an unexpected turn when he meets the wild and charismatic Lulu (Melanie Griffith) at a New York City bar. She invites him to join her on a trip out of town in her beaten-up old car, with Charles reluctantly agreeing after she insists that they're going to his office. Along the way, Lulu convinces Charles to pose as her husband 'Sam' for a visit to see her mother and attend her high school reunion, where she is greeted enthusiastically by her former classmates who remember her as 'Audrey'. At the reunion, Lulu's violent ex-husband Ray (Gary Busey), recently released from prison, makes it clear that he wants Lulu back. When Charles and Lulu attempt to flee together, Ray follows them, leading to a dangerous game of cat-and-mouse involving handcuffs, police chases, and ultimately, a deadly confrontation.
