Synopsis

In Venice Beach, California, homeless teenagers Kelley Tanner and Jonas Trumball squat in an empty house owned by wealthy couple Evelyn and David while they are away for a month. Kelley, who grew up in foster care, becomes attached to the family through their home videos, particularly those featuring their deceased daughter Stephanie. Meanwhile, Jonas plans to rob the house and sell the stolen goods to fund a new life in Mexico. When Evelyn and David unexpectedly return, Kelley and Jonas are forced to flee. Kelley later encounters Michael, the family's teenage son, at a movie theater showing 'The Kid'. They begin dating, but Kelley keeps her past hidden from him. As their relationship deepens, Kelley becomes increasingly haunted by the events that led them there.
