Synopsis
Thelma, a devout Christian from an isolated Norwegian countryside, moves to Oslo for university against her parents' wishes. Feeling lonely and out of place, she befriends Anja, a fellow student who introduces Thelma to new experiences. As Thelma's horizons broaden, she begins experiencing extreme seizures, which are later revealed to be symptoms of unexplained psychic abilities. The more Thelma struggles with her repressed emotions and desires, the more violent her seizures become. Throughout the film, Thelma grapples with her newfound powers and their connection to her religious upbringing and emerging sexuality.
