Synopsis
On his first day on the job as a narcotics officer in Los Angeles, rookie cop Jake Hoyt (Ethan Hawke) is partnered with Detective Alonzo Harris (Denzel Washington), an experienced but controversial officer known for his unorthodox methods. Throughout their shift together, Harris guides Hoyt through the gritty reality of police work on the mean streets of LA, exposing him to a world of drugs, violence, and corruption. However, as the day progresses, it becomes increasingly clear that Harris is not just bending the rules but breaking them entirely, and his true motivations remain unclear.
