Histoire
Ryno de Marigny, a penniless aristocrat, has been involved in a passionate affair with Villini for ten years. At the age of 30, he becomes engaged to Hermangarde, a wealthy and titled virgin. Before the wedding, Hermangarde's grandmother questions Ryno about his past relationship with Villini. Through flashbacks, we learn about their tumultuous affair marked by intense passion and jealousy. Despite his professed love for Hermangarde, Ryno struggles with self-loathing due to his lingering feelings for Villini. After the wedding, Ryno and Hermangarde move into a castle by the sea, leaving Villini behind.
