Synopsis
Valley Girl (1983) follows Julie, a young woman from a wealthy suburb in California known as 'the Valley'. She meets Randy, a punk rocker from the city, at a party and they instantly connect despite their different worlds. Their relationship deepens, but it's tested by Julie's shallow friends who disapprove of Randy due to his punk attire and lifestyle. To remain together, Julie must navigate her friendship group while trying to keep Randy happy.

Résumé
Directed by Martha Coolidge, Valley Girl is a romantic comedy set in the early 1980s against the backdrop of the burgeoning punk rock scene in California. The film explores themes of class and social divisions through the relationship between Julie, a 'valley girl' from an affluent suburb, and Randy, a working-class punk from the city.
