Histoire
Three young women set out for a summer canoe trip down the river Kolpa. As they journey along the river, they begin to realize that the wooded banks they traverse are not just the boundary between Slovenia and Croatia but also the dividing line between what's acceptable and forbidden. The trio soon encounters a self-proclaimed Guardian of the Frontier who challenges their perceptions and pushes them into uncharted territories.

Directed by Maja Weiss, 'Varuh meje' (2002) is a fusion of drama, horror, and mystery that explores the themes of borders, both physical and psychological. Set along the river Kolpa which divides Slovenia and Croatia, the film follows three young women on their summer canoe trip down this seemingly peaceful waterway. Their journey becomes more sinister as they encounter the enigmatic Guardian of the Frontier who blurs the line between what's permissible and forbidden, challenging their sense of reality and safety.
