Synopsis
Young Adam follows a drifter named Joe (Ewan McGregor) who arrives in Glasgow to work on a river barge with its owners, Les (Peter Mullan) and Ella (Lynne Ramsay). When a woman's body surfaces from the river, it causes unrest among the locals. The police investigate, but they don't seem too concerned about solving the case. Joe keeps a secret that he knows more about the dead woman than he lets on. As days pass, tension builds between Joe and Ella, leading to an affair. Meanwhile, Les grows increasingly paranoid and hostile towards Joe. Eventually, Les confronts Joe about his relationship with Ella, leading to a violent altercation.

Résumé
Directed by David Mackenzie, Young Adam is an adaptation of Scottish beat author Alexander Trocchi's novel. Set in Glasgow, the film explores themes of guilt, sexual tension, and unchecked desire through its moody, neo-noir narrative. Starring Ewan McGregor and Tilda Swinton (as Ella), the movie is characterized by its booze-sodden atmosphere and emotionally volatile story. Despite being a thriller at heart, Young Adam takes its time to unfold, focusing on character dynamics and tension-building.
