Histoire

Melissa P., an adolescent girl living with her mother and grandmother in Sicily, has her first sexual experience at a party hosted by a school friend. The encounter with Daniele, a schoolmate, is traumatic as he forces himself on her and later treats her dismissively. Heartbroken but infatuated, Melissa allows Daniele to continue using her for sex. In retaliation, she begins engaging in increasingly wild sexual encounters with him and others, documenting them in a diary. Meanwhile, Melissa's mother tries to connect with her distant daughter, while their smoking-heavy grandmother is sent to a rest home.

Résumé

Melissa P. (2005) is an Italian-Spanish erotic drama directed by Luca Guadagnino, exploring themes of adolescence and teenage sexuality through the titular character's turbulent journey. The film follows Melissa's first sexual experience, which turns out to be coercive and traumatic, leading her down a path of reckless behavior. While the movie focuses on the narrative sequence of events, it also touches upon parent-child relationships, particularly Melissa's strained connection with her mother.
