Histoire
In the summer of 1963 in Wyoming, cowboys Ennis Del Mar and Jack Twist are hired together to work on Joe Aguirre's sheep farm on Brokeback Mountain. Despite their initial hostility towards each other, they begin a sexual relationship that evolves into a deep emotional bond over the course of their six-week job. Afterward, they go their separate ways: Ennis marries his sweetheart Alma and has two daughters, while Jack moves around various ranch jobs and ultimately settles down with Lureen in Texas. However, the passion between Ennis and Jack remains undiminished, and they reunite periodically for secret trysts over the next twenty years, risking their reputations and marriages. Eventually, Jack's desire to build a life together with Ennis causes tension between them, leading to an emotional confrontation that results in tragedy.
Résumé
Directed by Ang Lee, 'Brokeback Mountain' (2005) is a poignant and controversial romantic drama set against the rugged backdrop of 1960s Wyoming. Adapted from Annie Proulx's short story of the same name, the film tells the tale of Ennis Del Mar and Jack Twist, two cowboys who embark on an intense, lifelong love affair despite societal expectations and personal fears.
