Story

Scalene follows a complex narrative from three perspectives, centering around a traumatic event and its aftermath. The story begins with Jakob, a mentally handicapped young man, being cared for by his mother at home. When the family hires a female college student as Jakob's caretaker, tension ensues between the two women over what is best for Jakob. Tragically, Jakob rapes the student, leading to his arrest. After Jakob's incarceration, his mother becomes determined to take revenge on behalf of her son, driven by her unyielding love and protectiveness.

Summary

Scalene, directed by Zack Parker in 2011, is a psychological thriller that delves into the complexities of family bonds, loyalty, and maternal instinct gone awry. The film explores how the perception of events can vary drastically depending on who's telling the story. Set against the backdrop of small-town America, Scalene challenges viewers to question their assumptions about right and wrong as it unravels a web of deceit and revenge.
