Histoire
Marie Chapdelaine leaves her rural Quebec village to find her estranged lumberjack father who disappeared seven years ago. In Montreal, she meets Armand St-Amour, a former friend of her father and owner of a country-and-western bar called the Rodeo Club. Armand manipulates Marie into working as a topless singer at his bar in exchange for information about her father's mistress, who supposedly knows his whereabouts. During this time, Marie becomes romantically involved with Francois Paradis, a journalist who initially seems to want to help her find her father but later pressures her into posing nude for a magazine after securing her a job as a model. Disillusioned by these events and losing sight of her original goal, Marie eventually has a chance encounter that may finally lead her to the truth about her father.
