Biographie complète
Camille Berthomier, known professionally as Jehnny Beth, is a French musician, singer-songwriter, and actress. Born in Poitiers, France, on December 24, 1984, she moved to London in 2006 to pursue her artistic career.
She first gained attention in Europe as one half of the indie rock duo John & Jehn, alongside her partner Johnny Hostile. Berthomier achieved global recognition, however, as the powerful and incendiary frontwoman of the acclaimed English post-punk band Savages. The band released two Mercury Prize-nominated albums, Silence Yourself and Adore Life, before going on hiatus in 2017 to focus on individual projects.
In June 2020, Jehnny Beth released her critically acclaimed debut solo album, To Love Is to Live, which featured collaborations with artists such as Joe Talbot of Idles and Romy Madley Croft of The xx. She has also released a duet album, Utopian Ashes, with Bobby Gillespie of Primal Scream.
Beyond her music career, Berthomier is an accomplished actress. She made her film debut in the 2005 French film Through the Forest and later received a nomination for the "Best Female Newcomer" at the 2019 César Awards for her role in the film An Impossible Love. She has also appeared in other notable films such as Kaamelott: First Installment and the Oscar-winning Anatomy of a Fall. Additionally, she has hosted a radio show, presented a TV series in France, and authored a book of erotic short stories.
