Monica Sanborn (she/her) is a Canadian, multidisciplinary artist and actor based in Brooklyn, NY. She is a proud company member of Theater Mitu working most recently as a co-creator and performer of Utopian Hotline currently touring internationally. Her most recent film work includes Jefferson Ave. (dir. Hannah Whisenant), screening at the Lower East Side Film Festival, NoBudge Live 29, and was a recent Vimeo Staff Pick. Cousins (dir. Karina Dandashi) screening at BFI Flare, Florida Film Festival, Lower East Side Film Fest, The Future of Film is Female fest and more, and Summer Solstice (dir. Histoire
In 'Jefferson Avenue (short)', Zora has been living in isolation during a pandemic when new neighbors move in and restrict her access to the downstairs garden she used to enjoy. As her romantic relationship starts to decline, her focus shifts towards the new tenants who have taken over her favorite space. Initially, Zora is denial about their presence, but eventually, she becomes obsessed with reclaiming what she considers hers. Her goal becomes clear: she wants the garden back.
