Born in New South Wales, Australia, Carmel Rose (also known as Carmel Rose Nhung) is a versatile actress, model, and presenter who has built a diverse career across television and film. She developed her craft through rigorous training, graduating from the National Institute of Dramatic Art (NIDA) Screen Actor Studio and the Australian Film & TV Academy (TAFTA).
Rose first gained significant recognition for her role as Rachel in the acclaimed 2013 SBS miniseries Better Man, where director Khoa Do praised her ability to bring depth and "star quality" to serious drama. Better Man (series) follows the real-life story of Van Nguyen, a Vietnamese Australian man who risks everything to save his brother. In an attempt to traffic heroin from Cambodia to Australia via Singapore, Van is caught with a quantity that incurs the death penalty - over 26 times. Despite knowing the severe consequences, Van chooses this path to help his brother financially. The miniseries chronicles Van's arrest, trial, and ultimate fate, as he was executed in Singapore for his crime.
