Arcadia Lake, born Michelle M. Carpenter on September 3, 1957, in Brooklyn, New York, was an adult film actress during the late 1970s and early 1980s. Of Japanese-American descent, she was raised by a single mother and reportedly named herself after a resort lake in Oklahoma. Her short but prolific career began in 1977.
Lake's career took off after she met adult film actor Eric Edwards, who became her boyfriend and introduced her to important industry figures. They starred in over 30 films together and were known as the "Lombard and Gable" of adult entertainment. She is most recognized for her role in the 1978 film Debbie Does Dallas, a landmark movie in the genre.
After moving to California with Edwards, Lake's career slowed down, and she eventually disappeared from public life. The circumstances of her disappearance and later rumored death by overdose in 1991 remain a subject of mystery and speculation.
