Growing up in a family with three brothers—two of whom became policemen and one a Marine Corps drill sergeant—she initially pursued a career as a flight attendant after high school before transitioning into children's clothing sales. Her life changed when she entered the "30th Anniversary Playmate Search" contest, leading to her being named the Playboy Playmate of the Month for October 1984.
