However, as Jack steps away from his assassin life and into the light of these relationships, he risks drawing attention and putting himself in danger.
Summary
Directed by Anton Corbijn, American is a tense thriller that explores themes of redemption, identity, and the consequences of one's past actions. Set predominantly in Italy, the film stars George Clooney as Jack, an assassin seeking to leave his violent life behind after one last job. The story is driven by Jack's relationships with Father Benedetto and Clara, which serve to humanize him and highlight the isolation and loneliness inherent in his profession. Although the plot details are sparse in the provided sources, the film was praised for its atmospheric cinematography and Clooney's nuanced performance.
